Fall 2008 - Sunday Evening Options for Adults - Beginning August 17 

Romans with Dr. William Greathouse for two weeks only, August 17 & 24 at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. We have the rare opportunity to sit with the author of our current adult Sunday School lessons on Great Themes in Romans. NPH recently released his new commentary on Romans. You are invited to submit questions ahead of time through Pastors Howard Plummer, Rondy Smith or Ken Jewett.
 
Looking for God: An Unexpected Journey through Tattoos, Tofu & Pronouns taught by Pastor Carol Waller in room 219 from 6-7 p.m. The goal of Nancy Ortberg’s book is to inspire us to move away from a bland approach to Christianity and to embrace the enormity and extraordinary power of God’s grace in our daily lives, finding God in places that perhaps we’ve never dreamed of and experiencing faith on a deeper level than we’ve allowed or imagined possible.
 
The Maker’s Diet taught by Christi Barfield in room 220 from 6-7 p.m. A loving God gave us everything to keep us healthy; especially whole, natural foods. Based on the book by Jordan Rubin and the work by Sally Fallon on ancient ways to prepare food. Includes tastings! 
 
Men’s Fraternity: The Quest for Authentic Manhood facilitated by Jim Knott in room 225 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. This study focuses on a man’s core identity and helps them embrace a biblical definition of manhood. The format includes a video lesson by author Robert Lewis and small group discussion. Books are available at Lifeway or www.mensfraternity.com for $9.95
 
Dynamic Marriage led by trained facilitators Rick and Jennifer Brown in rooms 222/223 from 5-7 p.m. (6-7 first night). Are you ready for your marriage to go from good to great…mediocre to magnificent…hurt to healed? Then you are ready for this nine-week interactive course developed by nationally recognized experts at Family Dynamics. Couples across the nation repeatedly testify that Dynamic Marriage works. The unique and safe environment encourages couples to let God change their lives and transform their marriages. Limited to 8-10 couples. Must pre-register for this course through church office at 847-3335. Materials cost $130 per couple. All our past participants say it’s well worth the investment.
 
Financial Peace University facilitated by Cole and Erika Ebel in room 215 from 5-7 p.m. (6-7 first night) Our last class collectively dumped over $32,000 in debt in 13 weeks! Learn to be better stewards of what God has given you. Kits cost $93; alumni welcome for a refresher using your old kit. For more information contact Erika at 739-3649.
 
Weighdown Workshop facilitated by Ole and Renee Blomberg in their home, 114 Seven Springs Drive in Mt. The Christian Life Profile taught by Pastor Rondy Smith in room 221 from 6-7 p.m.
Do people see a profile of Jesus Christ when they observe your life? Assess yourself against 30 core competencies of someone who is increasingly growing in his or her love for God and others. Ten competencies are core beliefs (think like Jesus), ten are core practices (act like Jesus), and ten are core virtues (be like Jesus).
 
Instructive Moments with the Savior taught by Pastor Ken Jewett in room 226 from 6-7 p.m. This class will explore the parables of Jesus and how those teaching moments forever changed lives. Based on the book by Ken Gire.

Our Wednesday Night Meals will begin again on the 13th at 5:00p.m.
 
Seven Deadly Sins taught by Pastor Howard Plummer in the parlor, room 126, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dan Boone, President of TNU, takes a fresh look at the Seven Deadly Sins, approaching each of the seven as an uncomfortable truth. The book opens with a discussion on the unpopularity of the word “sin” and then describes seven of the ancient ones: anger, envy, gluttony, sloth, pride, lust, and greed. No judgmental attitudes allowed. Books are available for $11.
 
Joshua: Be Strong and Courageous, an interactive Bible study taught by Pastor Rondy Smith in room 223 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Joshua, a remarkable leader, was God’s chosen servant to bring Moses’ work to completion and establish Israel in the promised land. The book of Joshua is an exciting story of adventure, faith, and conquest. 
 
First Place: Life that Wins led by Diane Cater and Beth Rouse in room 220 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. This is a 10-week women’s Bible study putting God in first place in all areas of life, with an emphasis on healthy living. Each week contains short daily lessons with Bible verse cd. Books are $20, available at Lifeway.
 
Men’s Group led by Tony Dozier continues studying The Measure of a Man, 20 attributes of a Godly man by Gene Getz,in room 222 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
 
Divorce Care led by David and Yori Taylor in room 219 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. A support group for those being impacted by divorce at any level. Includes video lessons by experts in the field as well as small group discussion and supportive fellowship. 
 
Grief Share led by Teresa Vines in room 216 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. A support group for those suffering loss. Includes video lessons by national grief experts as well as small group discussion and supportive fellowship.
 
Celebrate Recovery led by Franky and Missy Mize in room 215 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. A biblically based 12-step program for addictions and strongholds of any type. 
 
Adult Choir Rehearsal directed by Worship Pastor Sam Green from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. New choir members always welcome!
