Carol joined the staff of Hermitage Church of the Nazarene in the fall of 1999 as preschool pastor. She had no idea of the joy and fulfillment that God would provide through serving the children of the church and community. In 2005, Carol became the full-time Children's Pastor to children from birth through 4th grade and has recently made the transition to NextGen Pastor where her responsibility is to oversee ministries to children from birth to college.
Carol graduated from Trevecca Nazarene College in 1991 with a B.S. in elementary and special education. She spent 7 years teaching in various special education settings before resigning to stay home with her own children. Along the way, she earned an M.A. in Administration from Trevecca and an M.A. from Vanderbilt University in Education. In July 2009, after finishing the course of study for ordination, Carol was ordained as an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene. She is married to Michael, her high school sweetheart and best friend and they have three daughters, Anna, Sara, Rebecca, and a son, Lucas.
Her hope for this next generation of Hermitage church is that they will each come to know a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and that they will live a lifetime of walking with him. She longs for church to be a place where each child and student knows that they are loved and accepted and where they will develop a love for Jesus and his church. She believes that this is best accomplished by partnering with families and supporting parents as the primary spiritual trainers, and by creating and implementing safeguards within the church setting to ensure that this next generation finds a place to belong, grow, and serve in the body of Christ.
